Gradian Health Systems is looking to bring on a Communications Associate to help us tell the world about our work. We’re interested in candidates with experience in strategic, social change communications and a knack for telling stories that haven’t been told. The Communications Associate will be based in New York and report to our Director of Communications & Marketing.

Responsibilities

Reporting & Storytelling:

  • Capture narratives about our work and communicate its impact through a range of channels and materials
  • Oversee multimedia projects with teams of local freelancers documenting our programs
  • Manage website and social media accounts, including content development and website maintenance
  • Collect, analyze, and report on key operational and communications data

Product Marketing

  • Develop and manage marketing materials and messages for Gradian’s products (including technology and training)
  • Promote products online and at key international events
  • Manage production of sales and branding materials

Business Development

  • Work with Director of Communications & Marketing to engage funders and partners
  • Research for and develop proposals for awards and funding opportunities

Issue-Based Advocacy

  • Manage media campaigns to raise awareness of priority topics in global health
  • Identify opportunities to advocate for policies and investments around relevant issues
  • Build and maintain relationships with key advocacy partners

Background

Eligibility Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience
  • English fluency
  • Unrestricted ability to work in the US

Experience & Skills

  • Experience in key communications functions (e.g. digital media, press outreach, event management, storytelling, etc.)
  • Strong writer with ability to communicate across multiple channels
  • Passionate about global health and development issues
  • Resourceful, entrepreneurial self-starter who thrives in a start-up environment and has meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to independently manage multiple projects at once
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a good sense of humor
  • Expertise in all basic Windows and iOS applications
  • Preferred (not required): Competency or fluency in French and/or Kiswahili
  • Preferred (not required): Expertise in graphic design, photography, web design, or another creative discipline
  • Preferred (not required): Expertise in Google Analytics and/or AdWords
