Gradian Health Systems is looking to hire a Communications Manager to oversee and implement a wide portfolio of communications activities across various channels and geographies. We’re interested in candidates with significant professional experience in strategic, mission-based communications, preferably in an international context. This position is based in New York City and may require up to 25% of travel within and across Gradian’s markets.


Communications Strategy:

  • Devise short-, medium- and long-term strategic plans for capturing and showcasing Gradian’s work globally and in specific markets
  • Drive engagement plans for key audiences globally and in specific markets
  • Contribute to key message development across multiple areas of the company’s operations

Content Development:

  • Develop articles, reports and other materials to highlight Gradian’s products and programs
  • Compile and manage content library, including photos, videos, testimonials and relevant data
  • Oversee Gradian’s website and social media accounts, regularly updating both
  • Manage external vendors/freelancers and budgets for various tasks and projects

Business Development:

  • Support Gradian’s Market Strategy team in executing local plans for revenue generation
  • Research for and develop proposals for awards, funding and partnership opportunities

Events & Advocacy:

  • Implement media campaigns to increase awareness of and investments in priority issues
  • Oversee Gradian’s event strategy, including identifying speaking and sponsorship opportunities, engaging relevant colleagues/partners, managing participation and evaluation
  • Manage key relationships with stakeholders in various fields of interest


Eligibility Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • English fluency
  • Unrestricted ability to work in the US

 Experience & Skills

  • Several years leading and implementing communications functions on behalf of an organization (e.g. digital media, press outreach, event management, storytelling, etc.)
  • Strong writer with ability to communicate across multiple channels
  • Passionate about global health and related issue areas
  • Topical expertise in international development and/or medical technology
  • Resourceful, entrepreneurial attitude in a fast-paced working environment
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once (independently and collaboratively)
  • Flexibility with travel and work in nontraditional office settings
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a good sense of humor
  • Keen eye for compelling imagery and narratives
  • Expertise in all basic Windows and iOS applications
  • PREFERRED: Competency or fluency in French and/or Kiswahili
  • PREFERRED: Expertise in graphic/web design, photography or another creative discipline
  • PREFERRED: Expertise in Google Analytics and/or AdWords
